| Native American Grass Dancer On Mother's Day weekend each year, Native Americans hold a Pow Wow at Riverside Park, Grants Pass, Oregon. Native Americans from around the Pacific Northwest come to this celebration and perform a variety of native dances for hundreds of appreciative people. David Huitt is Paiute/Modoc, modest, strikingly handsome, and very concentrated on his spiritual performance with its graceful and complex movements. David was born on Mother's Day, May 12th, and looks forward to dancing this time of year to honor all mothers. David is holding onto a roll of smoldering sweet grass while performing a Blessing of The Grounds Dance. He informed me that the meaning of Modoc (which originally sounded like Modocknee) was/is Children of God. David is a dancer, singer and drummer residing in Josephine County.
